Today is Wednesday and we have a new prompt for the Friday Fictioneers, graciously provided by our Fairy Blog Mother Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.
The task is to write a story: beginning, middle, and end, in 100 words or less. You can find all the Fictioneers’ stories when you click on the Froggy. Please read, comment, and if you like, join the fun. Everyone is welcome.
I always liked stories about heroes who save the world from evil. The stories are beautiful fantasies, but far too black-and-white for real life, or so I thought.
I was wrong. When everyone lies, the one who tells the people what they want to hear will be believed. Greed, hatred and fear suffocate truth and slay freedom. Darkness creeps in.
The arena glows in the blue light of hope, pretending to be a beacon in the night. The irony stings.
“Hail emperor!” The roars announce the crowning of a despot. I shoulder my backpack and leave. Where are the heroes?
