Project 10K (P10K) May 2017

***The banners are updated. I posted the wrong ones earlier.***

You’ll find the rules and soon a complete gallery of earlier badges on the Project 10K Page.

Do you need a little incentive for writing more regularly? Then this project is for you.

1. Did you meet your writing/editing goals?
2. Did you have fun writing?
3. Did the P10K help with motivation?
4. Anything else you want to tell us?

Here are my answers:

  1. Nope, Zero, Nothing. Not a single word.
  2. I was so stressed out last month that the only thing I could do was binge-watch old Buffy and Angel episodes.
  3. I couldn’t let it push me even though there was a slight nagging in the back of my mind. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out.
  4. I didn’t even participate in the Friday Fictioneers challenge (weeps bitterly)–but I did read books about writing.

My goals for June are:

Survive work? It is mental at the moment. I’m going for structuring this month. I want to see what I can use from the books I’ve read. And there’s no word count. 😉

So, enough about me, how did your writing go? Please leave a comment, or link to your blog if you write about it there. I’d really like to hear about your month.

And, as always, good luck, many good ideas and a lot of fun for June.

If you see this for the first time and this challenge interests you: Everyone is welcome, hop right in.

  1. Sorry to hear you’re so stressed out, G. I hope it lets up soon. Work is pretty crappy for me too right now, although not as bad as it was last month.

    1. Well, I didn’t quite meet my goals, but then, my goals are always unrealistic, it turns out. I did manage to get more editing done on several short stories, although not nearly as much as I’d hoped. I also wrote 5 flash fiction stories for my blog and that was a goal, since I’d bowed out of all the weekly photo challenges for April to concentrate on Camp NaNo. Five is barely more than one per week (and there are 4-5 weekly challenges I follow) but it’s no worse than I’ve done in recent months. Overall, I just squeaked past the 10K mark, at 10,309 . But hey, “barely” still counts!

    2. I did have fun!

    3. P10K always motivates me. It’s good to have a concrete goal.

    4. My unrealistic goal for next month is to finish the goal for this month, and stop revising and actually SUBMIT at least one or two of these stories. (I did submit a short story to Sammi’s Summer Spells anthology earlier this month, but I want to pursue some paying publications next.)

    1. You’re doing so much and you did great… Maybe I lack dedication.
I’m glad you’re being motivated by the challenge and good luck with the new goals and the publishing–how exciting.

        1. Thank you. I’ve had a few ‘breakthroughs’ on the job last week for long-term problems that have kept me busy for months, so they are gone and slowly, slowly I can remember my name and that I actually like to write…
I forgot to tell you that I had originally posted the wrong banners in case you grabbed one. The right ones are up now.

          1. Three cheers for breakthroughs! I’m glad to hear things are calming down at work and you can devote a little more time and energy to fun stuff now. Between work and personal/social stuff (like my sister visiting and me having a big birthday party), I probably won’t have much time for writing in the next two weeks, but I hope to attack it afresh in mid-month.

  2. Better luck next month. Life can be a right pain and get in the way of all our plans and motivations. I’m stuck with editing at the moment, so no plans to join Project 10K yet…. maybe in the autumn 😉
